“Jet Star Roller Coaster; Seaside Heights, New Jersey: In October of 2012, Hurricane Sandy tore through the East Coast, engulfing the Seaside Heights Boardwalk. The Jet Star Roller Coaster was washed out into the surf, but miraculously, was still upright. It’s bones stood in the ocean until recently, when it was bulldozed and removed.”
“The Miranda Castle; Belgium: Built in 1866, the Miranda Castle was inhabited by the Liedekerke-Beaufort family until after the second World War, when it became an orphanage for children. The orphanage closed in 1980, and the castle has been completely abandoned since 1991. Although privately owned, it is completely neglected, and widely considered haunted.
“Amusement Park; Pripyat, Ukraine: After the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster of 1986, the city of Pripyat was evacuated, and due to still-dangerous levels of radiation lingering in the city, was never reinhabited. The entire city is overgrown, with trees sprouting on rooftops and even inside buildings.”
“Okpo Land; Okpo-Dong, South Korea:
Okpo Land was an amusement park built in South Korea in the 1990s. Several deaths, followed by the mysterious disappearance of the park’s owner in 1999, caused the amusement park to close. The park remained abandoned for years until it was demolished to make way for a hotel in 2011.”
