Side by Side


As a former Elementary School teacher, I’ve worked with many students that suffered silently (and sometimes not so silently) with what could perhaps be an early onset of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. Of course, in most cases, it may be unnecessary to label the child with these disorders but it is important to be aware of the issues at hand and to be proactive about meeting the child’s needs early on. As we all know, prevention is the best way to deal with mental illness and children’s books are a great place to start.
