Fall 2016 Makeup Trends

Fall 2016 Makeup Trends

The trends in 2016 have definitely been bold choices. New color palates and big bold eyes and lips from makeup. 2016 really did some game changing when it comes to makeup looks. Eyes are much more crazy, but beautifully put on, with daring colors. Shady eye looks with lots of eye liner and shadow are being seen everywhere.

“The finishing touch to any ensemble is the way you draw up your visage. The colors you use, the lines you make or the lack of it all can make or break a look accordingly. Just like an artist on her canvas, you must look at your eyes, lips, contours, cheekbones and even neckline to create your own masterpiece. No matter what the final product is expected to be, your makeup will be the one thing other than your clothing itself that stands out the most. As such, we have taken it upon ourselves to check out the top fall/ winter 2016-2017 makeup trends for you, considering that the colder seasons show off too little skin and the majority of color will most probably fall on your face.”

“Since 2016 is all about individuality and a unique character, as well as blending in the androgynous look to some effect, that is more or less what we expected out of the fall 2016 beauty trends as well. Which is your favorite look to emulate this fall?”

#1: The Truly Red Lips

“Okay, this is a classic. It is also one of the top fall 2016 makeup trends, having dominated for the spring and doing no less for the fall and winter seasons. It is lovely beyond belief, with brighter and darker shades taking to the stage, but always staying nice and cherry. It appears that red lipstick is here to stay so you can definitely invest in a few tubes of awesome color.”

“We see the bright red lips dominate on whiter skinned models actually, but that does not mean that your ethnic background should prevent you from taking on this trend. Proenza Schouler ensures it is just about the only color on the visage, which makes for a striking look, something Cushnie et Ochs is also a major fan of. The red lips are definitely a good enough statement on their own.”

#2: The Gothic Lips

“Take a trip to the dark side this fall with lips that tell a story that belongs to underground. It can be as dark as black or merely a perfect plum, it can be paired with no other colors to the face or have incredibly nightmarish appeals. It can look pretty or downright out of a horror story. It matters not really. The Goth is in when it comes to the fall/ winter 2016-2017 makeup trends and you can wear it as softly or as fanatically as you wish.”

“Marc Jacobs went for truly Gothic, all black lips and strange liners with brows bleached out, while Rodarte and Nicholas K were quite content with bringing in the pretty, keeping brows thinner but natural and just plain focusing on the purple hued lips. The Gothic lips are simply divine and definitely a top trend contender, with Gigi Hadid bringing in the sexy while stomping down the Fenty x Puma runway by Rihanna and sporting the matte-black pout. The best, though, we would say are the rouge-noir lips that some of the other designer houses brought forth.”

#3: Pastel and Bright Pink Lips

“You know those soft, pretty and pink pouts little children have? The lips of innocence really that have not been affected by the colorings of life as a whole. This is in style to keep to the barely there appeals, with youthful stains to the pouts coming out on stage with feathered edges and coquettish effects ready to seduce one through inspiring the natural inclination to go for the ladies that are left untouched… the virgins, per se.”

“Tanya Taylor, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Banana Republic are only a few labels that have utilized one of the prettiest fall 2016 makeup trends in terms of lipstick to really bring out the youthfulness in their models. Gorgeous baby lips appear at Chanel while paired with some graphic eye shadow in order to almost upset the balance of the features and redirect the gaze constantly. A sugary baby pink color on the Miu Miu lips ensures the eyes focus more on the brows on these ladies that are all well-groomed yet nice and thick.”

#4: No Color Added Lips

“Sometimes there is nothing added, sometimes, it is just a touch of lip gloss. No matter what, this trend keeps things as natural as they come when it comes to the lips and there is nothing lovelier than that. You see a fresh face with the clear lips at Valentino, a slightly chapped loop to the pout at Balmain, and pale pink rose petal lips at the evanescent Elie Saab Fashion Week show.”

Hair Chalk

Hair Chalk

I bought my first piece of hair Chalk from a blow-dry bar (like a salon, but sells mostly blow-dry’s for women coming in with hair already wet to save time and money at the salon) in Colonial Heights, VA over the spring. They had many colors, but I chose my favorite, hot pink.

I’m a blonde, and it looks great with my complexion and hair color. I wore it first at a wedding, with just a few pink highlights. I loved how it evenly distributed itself in my hair by just brushing my hand over my hair.

*This is the pink Chalk from above. It has a special hand application tool that makes it so easy to apply and I don’t get super messy and dirty with this applicator. The cost was $20, which may seem steep, but I have had it for over six months and it looks like I have only used it a few times. Because of the special hand applicator, you don’t waste anything. I would suggest getting this kind of Chalk over any other kinds with applicators and Chalk with non-applicators.

My girlfriend loved the hair Chalk, and found us both a great hair Chalk kit with 24 colors in it from Groupon. Whether you buy your Chalk from Amazon, or a salon, or Walmart, it’s all the same Chalk, but some are better than others. For example, in the 24-piece kit, you must dampen your hair first, and then get the Chalk wet for it to apply to the hair. It’s messy, but I have a lot of fun doing it. And it’s really not that big of a mess, mainly just on my hands. But you still must be careful with your clothes when using chalk that requires you to wetting your hair. Tonight I put a little red (that looks dark pink), light blue, light green, dark green and purple. I did the best applying purple and red.
*The light green in this picture looks almost yellow, and the dark green looks so sharp. The purple was the easiest color to apply, and the red came out looking almost fuschia. Looks fun doesn’t it?

Guide to a Feng Shui House

Guide to a Feng Shui House

Is your bedroom a peaceful haven you retreat to for rest and romance, and emerge from feeling refreshed and renewed? If not, a little feng shui may be just the thing your room needs.

Feng shui — which literally translates to “wind and water” — is the ancient Chinese art of placement. The goal is to enhance the flow of chi (life force or spiritual energy), and to create harmonious environments that support health, beckon wealth and invite happiness. At its most basic level, feng shui (pronounced fung shway) is a decorating discipline based on the belief that our surroundings affect us.

In the bedroom, “Feng shui helps you arrange the space to support your best rest and connection with your partner and with yourself,” says Los Angeles feng shui consultant Jayme Barrett, author of “Feng Shui Your Life.” Whether you buy into feng shui’s philosophies or not, many of its principles simply make good design sense. Here are nine simple feng shui strategies that will turn your chaotic and uninspiring bedroom into the serene and sensual sanctuary of your dreams.
“Each spot in your home is associated with a different aspect of your life. Here’s a beginner’s guide to cultivating positive energy in every zone.”

“Stand inside your home with your back to the front door.* Look forward. The part of your home in the far left corner is the money sector. The far right corner is the relationship zone. Got it? You work the magic by placing certain items in certain zones; some have symbolic power, others a literal connection to the area. The eight-point system is intricate and layered; feng shui expert Catherine Brophy shares her best feng shui tips for making every room in your house feel calm and happy.”

HERE ARE THE ZONES:

“Money: Place fresh flowers or a jade plant here. This is also a good spot in which to keep cash or a valuable treasure.”

“Reputation: The place to display awards, accolades, and good-luck symbols, like four-leaf clovers.”

“Relationships: Bring in pairs (especially potent are lovebirds, butterflies, and cranes) or an image of two trees intertwined. If your living room is in this area, place a love seat, a pair of pillows, or two matching chairs here.”

“Children and creativity: Ideal for a bulletin board or a craft or sewing zone. If you don’t have kids, use this spot to indulge your inner child with bold wallpaper or chalkboard paint.”

“Friends and travel: Nice for funny, playful photos, artwork made by pals, or a map that reminds you of a favorite trip (or a journey that you hope to take).”

“Career: This area should be as well lit as possible. If it falls around your entry, hang a bright pendant or chandelier. Put something here that relates to your passion and/or your job. A scientist might want a quotation from Einstein. If you play music, keep your instrument here.”

Knowledge: Create a reading nook or an intimate spot for conversation. If you meditate, this is a great place for it.”

Family and health: It’s really important to keep this area clean. (You know, if you don’t have your health…) And it’s the perfect spot for a family-photo wall.”
